What I’m Wearing for Christmas.

By: Jen Shoop

It might not scream “CHRISTMAS” — there’s no red or green or gold or metallic anything — but there’s something so very chic and festive about this dress from Self-Portrait ($530).  I had to have it, especially given that it’s supposed to be 73 degrees on Christmas Eve in DC (what the…? — as my mom put it: “It’s just weird.  We’ll all be sick as dogs.”)  I’m going to pair with some enorma-studs (KJL, $245 — these fan style earrings are RAD) and some black suede pumps (Manolo Blahnik, $595 — although, and I think I’ve mentioned this to death, I swear by the J. Crew Elsie as a less expensive but just as chic — and comfy — alternative, $245 plus 30% off right now):

There are SO many great festive earrings out and about right now — other alternatives to the above:

+Classic clusters from J. Crew ($65, plus 30% off right now);

+These starbursts (Loren Hope, $98) are just the right size — and for those a little bit on the edgier side, I’ve been majorly eyeballing these starburst ear jackets ($98);

+KJL’s ear crawlers are AHMAZING ($180) — can you IMAGINE for NYE?!  Swoon.

+Ben Amun has some amazing statement pieces, like these ($190).

+A bit more understated/delicate, but when I saw these, I had to have ’em ($65).

+If you’re down with color, I’ve wanted a pair of Bounkits forever, and these ($253) do not disappoint.

For other holiday dresses, I’ve also got these beauts on my radar:

+I love the sexy but sweet balance of this Marissa Webb lace dress (on sale for $345).  Or this variation on the theme from Cynthia Rowley ($418) — the back is gorgiiiiine.

+This silky wrap dress ($158, plus 40% off right now!) is so 70s glam.  I’d wear it with great heels and sparkly earrings.

+This sequined mini is SUCH a find ($129).  Love the mock neck — it sort of dials down the drama in a cool way. P.S., this sequined jumpsuit is also an amazing catch ($59).  The spitting image of this Parker (originally $418, now on sale for $250!)

+This metallic-threaded jumpsuit from J. Crew ($325) is flashy but sophisticated in such a Parisian way.

+And while on the subject of jumpsuits, I LOVE this fun twist on the tuxedo look in the form of a Cynthia Rowley jumpsuit ($398).  The bow/draping of the top is insane.

+Two other Self-Portrait lovelies I seriously considered: this ($520) in that great cranberry color, or this trim and tidy black-and-white stunner ($530).

+Throw on a bananas fur capelet ($395) to seal the deal.  My sister wore one with her wedding gown at her STUNNING AMAZING MAGICAL GORGEOUS wedding in Manhattan last weekend and it blew my mind.  Actually, it blew everyone’s mind.  I have so many things to say about that weekend, but I’ll save for a different post.  I can’t think about the weekend without wanting to cry and/or swoon.

+Finally, if dresses aren’t your thang, check out this fun tasseled top ($231) — or get the look for less with this style, which I’ve heard is super flattering on ($98, but 40% off!)  Or how about this crinkled metallic pleat skirt ($90) with a chunky white knit or a velvet cami?  Or this floaty Alice and Olivia skirt (on sale for $347) with a white blouse and some major baubles?
