Fall is here! As resistant as I am (summer was way too short and way too cool for my taste), it was kind of fun to pull out a sweater and my jeans for the first time in awhile and to feel that crisp, brisk fall air. I’ve long thought that people that live in regions with all four season are more sentimental than their counterparts with year-round warm or cool temperatures: you feel the passing of time that much more keenly. And every fall I feel a little pinch of nostalgia for the back-to-school days of my youth: buying new school supplies (Lisa Frank anyone?!), mapping out my outfit for the first day back (because I went to Catholic school from 1st grade through high school, “free dress” days were few and far between, so I prized these with particular vigor), even feeling nerdily excited about my new classes. Fall just feels like something new.
In that spirit, a few fashion-forward (?) items I have my eyes on: first, this cool sweater/sweatshirt thing in a great modern pattern ($100) with some lucite shades ($140) and a black fit-and-flare skirt ($80):
Very fashion editor-chic, Taylor Tomasi-Hill style. Or — a straight-forward black blouse ($98) with a funky necklace (so cool — $44); light-wash, distressed denim ($135); and the item-of-the-fall I currently have my eyes on: Iro Keira boots ($795):
Finish it off with this chic oversized Malene Birger clutch ($195):
