Thaaa Mix.

By: Jen Shoop

I have been poring over Eddie Ross’s new Modern Mix book ($29) since it arrived in the mail a week or so ago.  It’s full of inspiration and information.  I spent the better part of one Sunday reading little bits in the book and then scouting Etsy and eBay for pieces similar to the ones he’d featured and talked about.  He does a great job of talking about specific vintage brands and labels to keep an eye out for.

I’m particularly charmed by those solid opaline goblets in bright blue and white.  You can replicate a lot of these looks with some of these smart finds from Etsy:

+Chinoiserie-chic candle holders from well-known label Fitz + Floyd ($168);

+Georges Briard malachite dessert plates ($39 for 4);

+The prettiest vintage bone china tea cups and saucers from Boston-based April’s Luxuries, like this midnight blue style ($95);

+Sweet giraffe book-ends from Fitz + Floyd ($90);

+Vintage opaline goblets ($85 for 2);

+Mid-century cased glass pitcher ($45);

+Coalport bone china in a regal print ($19+ — see the rest of her shop for additional pieces);

+Vintage cloisonne ring dish ($16);

+Wedgwood jasparware dinner plate ($18);

+He talks a lot about collecting vintage silver pieces, especially monogrammed items — I found lots of goodies on Etsy, including these vintage butter knives from 1892; serving fork; caviar server (OMG, how fab is that?!); pickle and olive server set (love how random and individualized these utensils are).

Happy hunting!
