Snake Charmer

By: Jen Shoop

I’m smitten with python/snakeskin this season, and here are three reasons why:

{Chriselle Lim of the Chriselle Factor}

{Krystal of This Time Tomorrow}

{Blair of Atlantic-Pacific — check out those tootsies!}

Let’s begin with some ridiculous snakeskin-accented sunnies by iconic brand Linda Farrow (well, doubly iconic, since they were designed by Linda Farrow for Alexander Wang).  I had a heart attack when I spotted the price tag ($758!?, Saks), but they’re pretty to look at nonetheless.  I’d opt to wear it with a gray sweater dress (Cacharel, $540, LesNouvelles), black tights, and some snakeskin-accented t-straps (MICHAEL Michael Kors, $149, Nordstrom):

I’d wear it with a red shopper ($169, Zara), some leopard gloves ($500, Net-A-Porter), and a knit cape (on sale for $158, J. Crew):

A cuff ($138, Max&Chloe) and some glittering earrings ($18, 1928):

Or — swap out your standard-issue white blouse for a python-print style (Equipment, $218, Revolve Clothing) and tuck it into a camel wool skirt for a nice little monochromatic look (Maje, $195, Stylebop), topping it all off with that tigerseye necklace I’ve been blathering on about (love — $125, TopShop):

I’d slip into these sick burgundy tootsies (very YSL — $69, Zara) and carry this lovely ladylike, snakeskin-effect purse ($288, Alexandra Satine):

Love those gem tones together as a way of adding some interest to the monochromatic look.  I’d finish by pulling on this right-on-the-money bracelet (doesn’t it match perfectly?! — $505, Mija Jewelry):

For a dressier occasion, do we die over this sequined snakeprint effect top ($195, AllSaints)?  I’d pair with black skinnies (BTW, get lots of questions about which style I wear — I’m in.love. with the J. Brand 912, and have worn them so much they’ve faded from black to gray! — $185, Shopbop), jet black drops ($200, Suzanna Dai), and gold-embossed tootsies (ugh, all of Zara’s shoes are killer this season — $99, Zara):

A matte black clutch finishes the admittedly busy look ($210, Alexandra Satine):

Or, for just a POP, consider sprucing up your standard-issue LBD ($110, Mango) with some green snakeskin pumps ($129, Zara) and emerald-inspired gem earrings (KJL, $55, Bloomie’s):

Add a vintage-looking brooch (kind of getting into the idea of brooches, and this one is appropriately titled the “Cobra Coil Brooch” — Mawi, $695, Charm&Chain):

Finally, I’d tie it all together with a little fur collar ($425, Barney’s), and ivory coat (OMG, love this Tommy Hilfiger style for winter — $500, Net-A-Porter), and a pretty green clutch ($365, Shopbop):

For another look, layer this awesome striped boucle jacket (perfect with the neon trend I swooned over yesterday — Giambattista Valli, $3,265, Net-A-Porter) finished with some major python pumps (Proenza Schouler, $595, Kirna Zabete) and some eye-catching earrings ($97, Pret-a-Beaute):

I’d add a simple, matte gray clutch — Alexander Wang’s styles are always so fresh and inspired ($580, Net-A-Porter):

Other lust-worthy snakeskin add-ons?  The Kate Spade Carlyle ($895, Kate Spade), perfect with cherry red flats ($160, Pretty Ballerinas) and a swipe of glam red lipstick (I love the YSL Rouge Pur Couture line — phenom colors — $22.50, Cosmetic Mall):

Or — snuggle up in this cozy cashmere wrap sweater ($398, Seaton Surf), paired with python flats and ($49, Zara) the Edie purse in pecan ($238, J. Crew):

Finally, do you not die over these python Tods loafers ($795, Bergdorf’s)?!
