Freshly Minted

By: Jen Shoop

While in NYC for the bachelorette party, my Parsons-bound sister showed me some of her most recent sketches.  One of them was a gorgeous dress in mint green that I haven’t quite been able to get out of my mind.  What an under-used, ridiculously beautiful color — feminine, retro, and refreshing all at once.  Nothing could look quite as cool and collected for the intensely muggy summer weather.

And so, in honor of my sister’s well-appointed palette, let’s get minted.  We’ll start with these absolutely gorgeous Rupert Sanderson pumps — TDF and on sale for $297 at The Outnet:

Lovely and ladylike with a cream or gray dress, like this retro-chic, Mad-Men-era Erdem dress ($548, The Outnet):

Round out the look with a gorgeous oversized-stone bib necklace by Kendra Scott ($170, Max and Chloe):

For an evening out, pair with this chic Kotur box clutch ($899, Shirise):

In search of other evening or cocktail appropriate options?  Try this gorgeous Shoshanna dress in refreshing mint ($363, Shopbop):

Or maybe this structured Kirribilla number ($395, eDressMe):

Both would look amazing with these kickily-printed Pucci wedges ($297, The Outnet):

Add a glass beaded necklace, like this inexpensive Anthropologie bauble ($32, Anthropologie):

If you like a chunkier style, this Anthology multi-strand necklace will do the trick ($88, Nordstrom):

While I do love the mint-with-gray-or-white combo, you can achieve a slightly different, more contrastive aesthetic with this cute-as-a-button DKNY bow-clasp belt (on sale for $49.50, My Wardrobe):

I like the idea of layering it on top of a black sheath dress with the Rupert Sanderson pumps above or maybe just using it to emphasize your waist while wearing a draped soft green dress like this inexpensive Fred Flare number ($54, Fred Flare):

Accent with a dainty Amanda Rudey amethyst ring ($130, Max and Chloe) and some jet black pumps (you know the drill — Louboutin, Louboutin, Louboutin):

Taking things in a more day-wear appropriate direction, consider investing in this just-for-a-Sunday-cruise (or just-for-garden-decoration) mint green, retro-style bike ($144, JustBicycles):

Add some trim white ankle-length skinny jeans or pants, a breezy white sleeveless blouse (MMCouture, $70, PiperLime), and some eye-catching white flats ($392, Bluefly):

Spruce it up with this Rachel Leigh statement necklace ($167, ChickDownTown):

Very Audrey Hepburn, especially if you invest in the Kate Spade bike basket featured below (seems to be sold out online at the moment, but I swear I just saw it a day or two ago!)

Cool as a cucumber!
Note: I apologize for the brevity of this posting and the upcoming week’s.  I will be in Jury Duty for the better part of the week and feel all out of sorts (not to mention sadly far from my little Macbook) between being out of my office at a particularly busy time and schlepping to/from Judiciary Square (as I’m not close to a metro stop, this makes the daily commute in excess of an hour, hour-and-a-half).  Ick.
