A Latte Love

By: Jen Shoop

I guess I’m suffering from a bad case of fashion A.D.D. this year, because I’ll go from wanting BOLD NEON INTENSITY {see yesterday’s post} to sophisticated black-and-tan at the drop of a hat.  But — that’s fashion, isn’t it?  Reinvention?  So, today: my top picks for the urban, mid-week workerbee in a latte palette (a brown, black, cream blend).  {I’ll admit to a healthy dose of styling inspiration from Ms. Pippa Middleton, whose approachable, working-woman style is perfection.} Let’s begin with this darling, affordable bow-front dress ($45, Target), which I’d pair with pearl enorma-studs ($150, Mariam Haskell), black tights, and some booties (LOVE these bow-backed versions — my little sassy sissy owns a similar bow-bedecked pair she snagged from Kate Spade, and gets about a million compliments on them per second — $104, Endless):

I’d pair with a bold, collarless topper (isn’t this inexpensive Old Navy style BOMB?!  Love the lining — $69, Old Navy):

In terms of arm candy?  Lots of gold trinket-y bracelets, including this link bracelet ($32, Bauble Bar) and this typewriter-letter watch (love it — $24, Urban Outfitters) —

And then maybe this set of Mulberry bangles as the finishing, clanking touch ($300, Mulberry):

I’d stuff all of my work essentials, including some smart-looking glasses (currently coveting Selima Optique’s geek chic styles — $360, Selima), a tortoise iPhone cover ($25, J. Crew), and a hot pink wallet (check it out — you can get this bad-boy hot-stamped with your initials in gold foil!!! — $107, I Love BLVD) into this work-appropriate tote (with a lil edge for good measure — $118, Navoh):

Or, how about this cool gal brown leather dress (Ralph Lauren, on sale for $598, Net-A-Porter), which I’d pair with a sleek black chain-link necklace ($198, ShopTwigs), black tights, and a fierce wedge (Rachel Zoe, on sale for $189, Intermix):

I’d finish with a mini pony-hair cross-body (EEEEE!!!! I need this, and it’s on sale!!!!! — $229, Barney’s):

{I love you, little guy.}  Next up: how much do you love the textural contrast of this cable-knit skirt (Marc by Marc Jacobs, $168, Shopbop) with a black silky blouse (Miu Miu, on sale for $525, Net-A-Porter — although Equipment has amazing, industry-standard blouses — i.e., everyone in the fashion world owns and loves ’em — for around $200/pop) and some bold sparkly studs ($145, D0loris Petunia — and W.O.W., check out her entire collection of one-of-a-kind marvels, especially these, which I sweat in a serious way):

I’d finish with these amazing, and very impractical, booties (Zanotti, on sale for $597, Net-A-Porter).  I’m not normal one for fashion folly (hm, maybe that’s a bit of a bold claim…), but these are just too awesome to overlook.  And — while we’re in la-la land, why not the Reed Krakoff boxer bag?! — $1,090, Neiman’s):

I’d echo the glitz of the earrings with this amazing cuff ($645, Dannijo):

Finish with this dramatic red wool cape (uh-woahhhh — $671, MyWardrobe):

Finally, I love this sophisticated box stationery set ($48, Stripe and Field).  The unexpected color linings make this set uber-chic.

I like the idea of curling up at home with this knit cape (sold out at J. Crew proper, but still available via Net-A-Porter for $200), some orange cabochon studs (KJL, $99, Zappos), a printed scarf (Theodora & Callum, $175, Otte NY), some skinnies, and these awesome printed black-and-brown flats ($250, Pretty Ballerinas):

Lovely, lovely.  We’ll see where I fall on the color spectrum tomorrow.
