The Little Lady Travels

By: Jen Shoop

Those who have been reading TFM for awhile may remember a series a did a long while back — “The Little Lady” series, a cluster of posts about an imaginary version of myself with poise, elegance, and a Hitchock heroine vibe {see here, here, here, and here}.  Today, that series continues, in part inspired by yesterday’s Wanderlust post.  As I pieced together the looks, I kept itching to put together a few get-ups more closely akin to what Betty Draper packed when she traveled to Rome with Don, but they just didn’t fit with the contemporary looks I was gravitating towards yesterday. So today I want the full Jackie O.-on-vacation treatment.

First, check out this demure white travel dress (Moschino, $350, My Wardrobe) with some vintage-looking enorma-studs ($405, Net-A-Porter):

Divine with the Viv flat ($228, J. Crew) —

— and a seriously ladylike bag (Kate Spade, $525, Endless):

She travels in style with this ridiculously luxe rollaboard ($1,470, Lena Erziak) —

For day-time exploring, the Little Lady dons a tweed jacket (did I mention that she’s loaded?! — Oscar de la Renta, $1,800, Net-A-Porter), enorma-studs ($325, Vivre), a white bow-front blouse (Jason Wu, $560, Browns), skinnies, and the perfect nude flat ($250, Loeffler Randall):

A structured tote (Tory Burch, $550, Shopbop) finishes the look:

For a daytime shopping trip, how darling is this retro cut ($108, Modcloth), which I’d pair with these seashell-inspired earrings (I own this exact pair and get compliments on them all.the.time — $68, Juliet and Company):

I’d finish with classic Jack Rogers ($105, Zappos) and a boxy straw bag ($58, Espadrilles Etc):

Don’t forget the retro cat-eyes (Selima for J. Crew, $128, J. Crew) and camera ($109, Modcloth):

Now, this khaki shirt-dress (Miu Miu, $1,290, MyTheresa) is oh so Gwyneth Paltrow in”The Incredibly Talented Mr. Ripley,” and looks ravishing, dahling, with some enorma-studs (Bounkit, $320, Charm & Chain):

I’d finish with some bold bow-toed flats (~$300, Pretty Ballerinas) —

— and a pop of green in the form of this boxy Kate Spade cross-body ($445, Zappos):

And, finally, while on the topic of green, how to die is this floral-print ladylike dress ($247, Conifer Shop)?!  I’d pair it with pearls, pearls, and more pearls — and I love the Miriam Haskell collection, so I’d lay it on thick ($200 for earrings; $480 for necklace):

I’d finish with the classic Louboutin Pigalle ($625, Neiman’s) and a sleek green clutch (DVF, $415, Matches):

I need a getaway!
