The Best Flat Sandals for Summer 2020.

By: Jen Shoop

If you have not yet bought a pair of sandals for summer, you are in luck — troves of incredibly chic finds are heavily discounted at the moment. All items below are under $200 and most are under $130. A few standouts below:

LOEFFLER RANDALL BIRDIE SLIDES (ON SALE FOR $125) — I OWN THESE IN A DIFFERENT COLOR AND LOVE THEM! ON SALE FOR ONLY $75 IN BLACK HERE

THESE PRINTED BROTHER VELLIES SLIDES (SEEN ABOVE) ARE SO FUN — AND ON SALE

THESE $60 STEALS CHANNEL HERMES

THESE SIMPLE SLIDE SANDALS GO WITH EVERYTHING — I HAVE A SIMILAR PAIR IN GOLD THAT I COULD WEAR EVERY DAY WITHOUT FAIL

CHEERIEST POLLY PLUMES (ON SALE FOR $113!) — ALSO LOVE THESE WOVEN BEAUTIES

YOU KNOW I LOVE A DRAMATIC BOW

TIMELESS ANCIENT GREEK SANDALS

If you’re looking for something to throw on when running outside: I own these inexpensive Birk slides in neon coral. Perfectly non-fussy and punchy. If you’re not a Birks gal, consider these Valentino-esque bow flip flops.

If you’re down for a splurge/investment: these would elevate any inexpensive LWD or LBD and these are the talk of the town (look for less).

If you’re looking for something with a kitten heel: love these and these are so fun and different ($55!)

P.S. Cookies to try, summer obsessions, and the best book I’ve read in 2020.

P.P.S. Some of my favorite recent under-$60 finds: this maxi, this sports bra, this gingham shirt dress, and this $28 everyday dress.

P.P.P.S. I will look at cliffs and clouds with quiet eyes.

  1. Oooh lots of great finds here!

I’m definitely a Birks gal too — my previous pair made it to 10+ years! Such great quality. I love my Gizeh (in cork) in a rose gold color, and the EVA ones are soooo light! I can’t explain the science behind it, but I’m convinced wearing Birks during my pregnancy prevented my feet from increasing in size (because I love all my pre-baby shoes!). Maybe because of the sturdy support to keep the ligaments from overstretching?

If I may add to this list: Margaux NY sandals are on sale! I can’t wait for mine to arrive, although I had to get a different color as the tan (cognac?) ones are sold out. I’ve heard good things about the comfort of Margaux shoes.

Out of my price range, but Malone Souliers Demi slides are really pretty too — I’m imagining with a white dress…

How’s the quality of the TKEES sandals? Been curious about it but the straps look somewhat flimsy, like they wouldn’t hold my feet! They seem to sell out quickly though…

    1. Ohh yes — thsoe Malone Souliers are SO chic, as are the Margaux! Had no idea they were on sale! Thank you. Actually, my TKEES (I have their classic flip flops) have withstood the test of time. The strap does look thin but they hold up somehow? Perfect for beach.

  2. Love those yellow gingham Brother Vellies sandals! I agree — nothing better than a big bow 🙂

Sad I missed out on the Birman knot sandals in brown — sooo chic! I love the K. Jacques braided sandals, too.

A word of caution on the Birkenstock EVA sandals — I’ve had 2 pairs of the Arizona (2-strap) model to use as my “house shoes” and they’ve both ended up ripping near the first strap. Bummer! I upgraded to a pair of gold leather ones since they’re much more durable. But the EVA ones are great for splash pads, etc. — I’ve just found that they don’t have the same longevity as cork/leather Birks, which I guess is to be expected as they’re so much less expensive.

    1. Hi! Yes, I’m guessing these EVA ones are not long for this world. They are almost made of pool float material — ha. But they are handy for running to the park / running downstairs / any time I might get wet / etc, as you note!

      xx
