That’s the {Big} Ticket

By: Jen Shoop

With the huge lottery drawing last week, I couldn’t help but daydream about what I would do if I perchance happened to snag the winning ticket.  Setting aside the do-gooding and investing that I would of course pursue, what would I splurge on?  {Tell me, what would you splurge on?}  To focus this blog post, I’ll pick ten items I’d go for right out of the gate.

ITEM 1: Mega-trip.  I’d fly all my nearest and dearest first class to somewhere amazing, like a private island, and would put them up for a week in a ridiculous house there with a personal chef and a fully stocked bar.

I’d throw lots of brightly colored beachwear (breton tee — Marc Jacobs, $129; monogrammed towel — Matouk, $115; lucite shades — Thierry Lasry, $435; sunscreen — Supergoop, $28; jelly sandals — J.C., $68) into a Globetrotter suitcase and be on my way:

ITEM 2: Of-the-moment statement shoes.  You know what’s coming: the Valentino Rockstud ($895):

ITEM 3: Timeless watch.  I’d reach for the Hermes H Hour ($2,350).

Item 4: The Pashli ($895).  Yeah, I’d finally get the bag I’ve been duh-rooling over forever and ever amen.

Item 5: Spa day.  I want an hour long hot stone massage, steam room, cucumber water, hair and makeup session, manicure and pedicure. (No peels or facials for me — they scare me.  I’ve had clear, happy skin since I started using Proactiv when I was 15.  It’s not a glamorous routine, but don’t mess with a good thing!  I tried switching to the Laura Mercier skincare line a year ago and it was disastrous.  I promptly returned to Proactiv.)

{Above: waffle robe — Matouk, $95; cucumber eye pads — $12; Essie’s “Enuf Is Enuf” and “Marshmallow” — $8 each; Fresh’s Brown Sugar Body Scrub — $65}

Item 6: Ridiculous evening gown.  I’ve never owned a proper gown {aside from my wedding dress}, and know that occasions to which I might wear one are few and far between….but.  I would die and go to heaven if I could own either an Oscar de la Renta or an Elie Saab.  I mean — stick a fork in me, I’m done.  I’d throw a lavish evening ball just to have the occasion to wear this baby (Elie Saab, $12,000).  Must wear with false eyelashes and a red lip.  And big studs.

It’s just…there are no words.

Item 7: Kiki Slaughter artwork.  I love this little lady’s collection, and would definitely splurge on a piece (or two) of hers.

Item 8: Cartier love bracelet ($5K+).

Item 9: Mauviel Copper Pot Set Mr. Magpie and I have a huge collection of All Clads that we love, but Mauviel is the big leagues — and it looks so beautiful hanging from a stove hood.

Item 10: J. Crew Spree.  They just have so much fun stuff right now.  I’m especially in love with this farmyard sweater ($98) and this Lulu Frost statement necklace ($228).

What would you pick?!
