Scalloping Along

I’m in love with scalloped edges.  I can’t divulge the details now, but I’ve used the scalloped edge in several ways at my upcoming wedding (I promise to dish after August 7 but want to leave all of that a SURPRISE for now).  My interest in the accent is not newfound, however — I’ve had and dearly loved my Matouk “Scallops” bedding for three years now!

This feminine detailing has defined a number of Chloe’s seasons over the past few years (thanks to head designer Hannah MacGibbon, Chloe has rapidly become one of my favorite fashion lines), and I just can’t get enough of it.

Soon-to-earn-Magpie-Maven-status Kate Bosworth sported the Chloe runway look and just killed in it:

(So did Chloe Sevigny, but she scares me.)  See by Chloe (diffusion line) came out with a whole series of scalloped shorts, some of which are still available on Farfetch, on sale for $181 and at La Garconne, on sale for $206:

I’m not bananas about the silky sleepwear vibe several versions (including the pair above) flaunt, so I’ll pass on them (power to you if you can make them work!) — but check out these fashion-forward trouser shorts from Queen’s Wardrobe ($72, Queen’s Wardrobe):

The editorial style of the shop’s photos leave me absolutely giddy.  I had to do a double take when I saw the price — they honestly look much higher end!  I feel as though you’d be channeling a 70s-era Olivia Palermo in them.  Love.  If you’re not so much into the shorts look, how precious is this little skirt from Urban Outfitters ($59)?!

It also comes in crisp navy and versatile white (white could be the perfect option when worn with a blush-toned blouse if you’re trying to channel Chloe’s runway look).  If you’re like me, however, and often opt for the easy-on, all-in-one DRESS above all else, how much do you covet this Lilly “Pearce” frock ($278, Lilly Pulitzer)?

Ah!  Just seeing it makes me want to make an impulse purchase — perhaps I need it for one of the events leading up to the wedding?!  (No.  I already have 4 white dresses set aside for various pre-wedding festivities.  Drat.)  For something a bit bolder in print, I’m loving this Calypso Mendosa dress (on sale for $99, Calypso):

I’m thinking it would be spot-on with these blue-stone Mystique ankle-strap sandals ($155, Mystique Shop) and this herringbone-patterned Magid brand tote (the style is so unexpected — $70, Endless):

Another bordering-on-boho look incorporating the fetching scalloped edge?  This Vanessa Bruno Athe white silk dress (on sale for $291, La Garconne):

With this dress, I think an eye-catching necklace would nicely break up the borderline severity of the torso design.  I’m head over heels for clinking coin necklaces after seeing them all over the place in a spread for Lucky magazine, and this vintage find from Brook & Lyn boutique is right on the money ($85, Brook and Lyn):

Jewelry designer Katie Costello also has some cool little coin-accented trinkets, like this necklace (on sale for $44) and this bracelet ($77):

While we’re on the subject of metallic accessories, how about these scalloped Tapeet flats (on sale for $214, Zappos)?  I dig them, especially with an all-black ensemble (black skinny pants and a trim black blouse) for a Parisian-chic look.

Or, for just a HINT of scalloping, these dainty Gorjana earrings ($50, Gorjana):

I’m equally bowled over by this darling little Anya Hindmarch pouch, which reads: “Manicure Money” ($155, Diani Boutique).  This is truly something I need for myself, as I get weekly (occasionally bi-weekly) manicures…sigh.

And, for a dose of pure fantasy, let’s ogle over two of my favorite pictures from Cherry Blossom Girl’s unbelievable shoot for the designer Alexandra Grecco, whose line features quite a bit of scalloping:

Swooning yet?  In a similar vein of thought, we’ll conclude this post with a fanciful scallop-edged blouse from the Designer Remix Collection at Farfetch (on sale for $181):
