Sale Snack: Veronica Beard.

By: Jen Shoop

Have you ever shopped at Veronica Beard before? Known for its tailoring, this brand is among the highest quality I’ve ever owned. I have blouses and dresses of theirs that I bought back in Chicago maybe five or six years ago that look just as good now as they did then. I also find this label tends to be a bit more careful with the trends — most of their pieces transcend the test of time and last several seasons (decades?) in a row.

All this to say, their sale section is an incredible opportunity to score a very high quality piece at a bargain. Many of the items I’m sharing below cost less than counterparts at J.Crew, but I put all my money on VB lasting much longer in your closet!

  1. I have been so curious about Veronica Beard blazers! Heard great things about them. Do you own one? I feel like blazers are so tricky in terms of fit, especially for petites. Not that I have anywhere to go in a blazer…

    1. Hi Mia! Oh yes, they are known for their blazers! I have not tried them, but I have tried one of their sleeveless vests before:

(Mine is a blue herringbone wool style — so chic!). I would say from my experience with that and a few other pieces of hers, she generally runs long and narrow. It’s possible her blazers might be too long in the arm for us shorties, BUT if you can score one on sale, I would say it’d be worth the price of tailoring/shortening the sleeves. I do think in general the fit is pretty snug and slim otherwise, so beyond that, a good brand for a petite lady!

      xx

    2. Thank you, Jen! Oooh tailored vests — so sharp! I have an almost-to-the-knee length vest with lapels like a blazer, which I got from Nordstrom (but not Veronica Beard) a few years ago. Such a great piece for transitional weather. It totally transforms a jeans + long sleeve tee outfit!

Hmmm, “long and narrow”… might be the opposite of me, haha. I have the interesting conundrum of being petite but having somewhat broad shoulders (possibly from years of gymnastics and swimming) and a now-wider ribcage after pregnancy. But I think a vest gives more leeway, fit-wise, than something with sleeves.

Thank you for the feedback on VB!
