Pink Ladies

By: Jen Shoop

I have no idea what made me reminisce about Grease the other day, but it was one of my very favorite movies growing up, along with Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken {don’t even talk to me if you’ve not seen this CLASSIC} and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers {loved all of those Rogers & Hammerstein musicals, but that one was the most cherished}.  Danny was the ultimate stud-muffin, and I clearly strove to emulate Olivia Newton John’s breathy, wide-eyed innocence…and then her bad-ass leather pantalon getup at the end.  But I mainly wanted to be a Pink Lady.  And I still do.  Get the look with your own shades-of-pink get-ups.  For starters, I love this simple and unfussy silken tank (Tibi, $160, Net-A-Porter) with highly unseasonal white jeans (I know, I know — it was 25 degrees outside this a.m., but the promise of warmer climes is keeping me going) and a tribal plate-style necklace ($29, Miss Selfridge’s):

Accessories-wise, how about these pink-on-red tootsies ($436, Barbara Briones)?

I’d tie it all together with a gold cuff ($65, Bloomingdale’s) and an ikat clutch (I know I’ve featured this before, but how amazing?! — $63, 100 Layer Cake):

For just a POP of pink, consider this fun neon watch ($44, ASOS), a shocking pink mani (I own this exact color from Illamasqua — called “Collide” — and LOVE it — $14, Sephora), and a bold pink blush (Nars, $28, Bloomingdale’s):

Or, sport a monogrammed clutch (well, actually — it’s a cosmetics pouch, but I’d totally rock it during the day — $128, Monogram Goods) and some Barbie pink heels (I die. — $595, Neiman Marcus):

Or, pump things up with a bow-front denim blouse ($227, Farfetch — or get this far more affordable version from ASOS for only $62!), some fuchsia skinnies ($158, Shopbop), and some oversized gold earrings ($1,820, Nordstrom):

Finish with a lighter shade in the pink color family by pairing with these B by Brian Atwood heels I’ve been dying over ($325, Intermix)

With colors so bright, I’d keep the accessories to a muted minimum — I’m thinking just this envelope clutch ($325, Saks):

Or, thoughts on a crisp white tee ($29.50, Madewell), some colorful beaded necklaces ($173 each, Wendy Mink), and a punchy floral-print skirt (OMG — Nanette Lepore, $298, Saks)?

I’d finish with coral slingbacks (Carven, $535, Net-A-Porter):

And a crisp white duffel-style tote (I saw a girl in NYC wearing this over the weekend and pretty much walked into a wall while I ogled at it — $2,085, Bergdorf’s):

Speaking of florals — also love this blouse (DVF, $265, Shopbop) with some patterned pants (BIG trend for spring — $230, Net-A-Porter)

I’d complete with blush flats (Repetto, $265, La Garconne) and a roomy eggshell tote ($357, My Wardrobe):

And, finally — how about this wrap style dress ($270, Net-A-Porter) with black tights and booties (House of Harlow, on sale for $159, My Wardrobe) —

— and the perfect high-contrast bag (DVF, $895, Shopbop), perhaps adorned with a vibrant scarf tied to the handle ($255, Marni)

For home — update a clean white couch/armchair ($1,295, ABC Home) with BRIGHT pink ikat pillows ($50 apiece, Furbish)

An ikat print throw ($135, Shop Furbish) adds extra dimension (love the pinks and reds together) —

— but meanwhile, how awesome are these horse-print-topped poufs ($414, Everything Begins)?!  Grown up beanbag chairs!

Finally, let’s talk about interiors of a different sort — happy hot pink unmentionables, just in time for Valentine’s Day!  I’m loving this line Sexy Panties and Naughty Nickers, and pretty much want everything Journelle’s made available from them, but especially this duo ($50 for top, $37 for bottoms — Journelle):

{Although — if you’re on the lookout for bright underthings, I’m smitten with Cosabella — GREAT colors.}  At any rate.  Now, the moment I know you’ve all been waiting for — the winner of my Kooba giveaway!  First, thank you ALL for entering — and for inspiring me with all of your fab workout ideas.  I am definitely going to be test-driving both Zumba and Barre classes in the near future, so THANKS for the inspo!  The winner is: Carol Buchman!  Carol, drop me an email ([email protected]) so we can get you suited up with your new gym bag!
