Margarita-ville

By: Jen Shoop

So let me be honest.  This post is somewhat transparently a plug for my fiance’s new business venture: Blind Pig Cocktails, a line of pre-mixed, high-quality cocktails.  I have to give him a shout-out because he was just featured in today’s Washington Post, and I’m so proud of him!  But beyond that — his flagship line includes the Jargarita, a twist on the classic marg, and an excellent source of fashion inspiration for today’s over-100-degree weather conditions.

Blind Pig Jargaritas

(It is brutal out there, and all I can think about is an icy cold, salt-rimmed margarita.  And it’s only 11 a.m.)  So why not spice things up with some lime green, margarita-inspired fashion?

How cheerful is this zesty, tiered dress (Muse, on sale for $78, Dillard’s)?  Sort of looks like the  pink-and-red parfait See by Chloe dress I was obsessed with earlier this season, only with a much slighter price tag.  Love the nautical rope detailing beneath the bust.  Pair with nothing but some unfussy white sandals (I know I’ve featured these puppies 2,123 times, but you just can’t beat ’em — K. Jacques, $245, Net-A-Porter) and a white clutch (Tory Burch, $275, Bergdorf Goodman).  Done.

Or how about this cheerful, marg-color-palette Lilly dress ($148, Lilly Pulitzer)?  Love the cut of the dress, especially when paired with some white or lucite statement jewelry, like this Anthropologie necklace ($42, Anthropologie):

Slip into some white Jack Rogers or, for something a bit dressier, go bold with these green Ralph Lauren “Finley” wedges ($281, Endless):

This green Lilly clutch would match perfectly ($98, Lilly Pulitzer):

Or, for lounging poolside (drink in hand), this awesome Milly cover-up (on sale for $142, The Outnet)?

Throw on over this neon green bikini (JETS, $110 for top and $85 for bottoms, Net-A-Porter):

Toss all your essentials into this white bucket-style carry-all (loveloveLOVE — CCSkye, on sale for $419, Zappos):

But if white leather seems a bit risky for poolside fun, opt for this more beach-appropriate straw tote (adore the style — $86, Endless):

Another splashy beachwear option?  This darling Shoshanna two-piece ($90 for top, $90 for bottom, PiperLime):

I’d wear it beneath this breezy white caftan cover-up (Diane Von Furstenberg, $141, Bluefly):

Make things a bit splashier with these nothing-but-fun Betsey Johnson aviators in lime green ($53, Zappos) or these green-and-gold thongs (Miss Me, $22, Endless):

Or maybe for a little backyard fiesta, this little Lilly has your name all over it ($202, Zappos)?

If you’re super-bold, pair with this Elva Fields necklace ($268, Elva Fields), but if that’s too much, wear the necklace separately with a solid white sundress.

You might offset the yellow this this precious rope-accented tote ($29, Endless):

This little Shoshanna eyelet number would look equally darling with the above statement necklace ($330, Bloomingdale’s):

You could dress it down with these lime-and-white Jack Rogers ($95, Endless) and this vintage crystal Amanda Pearl necklace ($298, Amanda Pearl):

Or some gold sandals and this Kate Spade lucite necklace ($125, PiperLime):

Or you can dress it up with these peppy little Jerome Rousseau heels (on sale for $202, The Outnet) and this multi-stone Margaret Elizabeth necklace ($138, Margaret Elizabeth):

And if you’d prefer only a little splash of green — consider this adorable little lime coin purse by Kate Spade (on sale for $42, Kate Spade):

And maybe this fun, sporty little Marc Jacobs watch ($175, Bloomingdale’s)?  I like the idea of pairing it with some slim bangles for that bold jewelry look.

Or maybe just set a citrus scent wafting through your house — this Diptyque candle is perfectly zesty ($60, Beauty Habit):

But most importantly — settle in with an icy margarita (preferably a Blind Pig Jargarita) and beat the heat in style!
