Jingle Bell Rock

By: Jen Shoop

One of my favorite moments in recent cinematic history has to be the Jingle Bell Rock performance from Mean Girls.  I mean.  Hilar.  I hope I can come up with some excuse to recreate that dance at some point in my life.  For the time being, however, I’ll just latch on to the song behind it and share a few sparkly, jingly-jangly pieces that have me thinking about the song all season long.

First — actual jingle bells, in the form of this festive wreath ($50, Williams-Sonoma).  Wouldn’t it be adorable on your door?!

I’ll take that as the inspiration point for the rest of the shimmery glimmery goodness below, starting with this outrageous shimmery number by D&G ($1,615, MyTheresa).  With something this high-wattage, all you need are some simple black pumps (Louboutin, $595, Saks), a black fur topper (this uber-luxe Maison Martin Margiela version is the stuff of dreams — on sale for $1,927, Net-A-Porter):

Woah, mama.  I would finish with a simple swipe of red lipstick (I love my YSL colors — $30, Saks) and false eyelashes (love the drama!  I use Laura Mercier’s kit for formal events, because they don’t look super trashy/fake and have just enough curl in them — $18, Sephora):

— oh, and a classic black clutch (sorry I’m breaking the bank today, but this classy bowed style has my heart — Valentino, $765, MyTheresa):

For something a bit more wallet-friendly, kick yourself into holiday gear with these sparkly nail lacquers (Essie’s “Pure Pearlfaction” and “Set in Stones” — $7, Amazon):

Or — consider glitzing up your LBD (the retro-styled number below is perfection; I’m very into volume these days — Kage, $591, Boutique1 — but this simple, slinky cut-out style by Rory Beca also caught my eye for holiday get-togethers) with these sparkly drops (remind me of snowflakes! — Erickson Beamon, $430, Net-A-Porter) and some glitzy tootsies (only $99! — check out the color selections at Piperlime and Amazon):

I’d cinch the waist with a silver bow-accented belt ($38, WHBM) and finish with this deco-style clutch (Moyna, $188, Nordstrom):

Check.plus.  I don’t know if I’m just lusting for the impossible after a weekend of high-glitz life in NYC {love the energy and style up there!}, but I’m also seriously coveting this pricy, embellished Farah Kahn number ($1,164, Farfetch), which I’d wear with these rocking danglers (Philippe Audibert, $130, Net-A-Porter):

Love the art deco vibe.  I’d finish with simple black pumps (D&G, on sale for $178, MyWardrobe) and a black box clutch.  My dream clutchski would be this Elie Saab wonder (love the glossy gold clasp — $912, Boutique1), but Kotur also has some eye-catching lovelies for about half the price!

Love.  In a serious, intense way.  Are you equally smitten, but could do without the price tag?  Get the art deco style for less with this clamshell clutch (on sale for $120, French Connection) and these sequinned pumps ($88, WHBM):

Now, I know I’ve been featuring SO many glitzy, glammy, glittery styles, so I hope you’ll bear with me while I swoon over one more — the Alice & Olivia Ritchie, which just went on sale at Saks (you’re welcome! — $330, Saks), which would look unbelievable with a pair of Janna Conner drops ($58, Max & Chloe) and a bold red topper (I am speechless at the sight of this bell-shaped Miu Miu style — $2,085, MyTheresa — but the J. Crew Double Cloth Metro coat is probably more realistic at $298…and equally eye-catching):

I’d wear it with these unexpected heels (the chunky heel made me pause for a minute, but they’re too fab to pass up — Louboutin, $1,195, Net-A-Porter) and a sleek and slender clutch (DVF, $540, Matches):

And, finally, two items I just want, period.  I’m sure I’d find a bajillion and one reasons.  First, the Alexander Wang Adriel clutch, which just went on sale at Barney’s ($289, Barney’s), and second, this futuristic-looking minimalista-chic cuff (34, Bauble Bar):
