In Bloom.

By: Jen Shoop

With no preamble, my latest obsessions…

I am loving big florals RN.  I hadn’t realized it until I drew up this luscious list of girly, romantic finds, but those dramatic floral prints were really calling my name.  I just recently stumbled upon this insane dress ($390) from Alice McCall and instantly imagined myself in it for my birthday this summer.  Doesn’t it look like something Penelope Cruz would wear?!  Dying.

You can get the look for less with this (loveeee).  And while we’re talking florals, this Banana find caught me off guard — so sweet!

I’m seriously obsessed with these bangles by Atelier Paulin, especially this love one ($128) and this “maman” one ($128).  Great gift for a mom or loved one.  I also found some Etsy lookalikes for a fraction of the price, like this one and this one (under $20!).

Did you read the comments on my beauty refresh post?  (I also got a few emails + tweets about this post, too).  So many great new recommendations.  Two items I am really intrigued by: 1) this new-to-me skincare line, Drunk Elephant (especially their dayglow kit, $23), and 2) Tarte’s shape tape concealer ($24).  TWO of you recommended the latter to me in response to my query about a good concealer, and the reviews are nuts-y (in a good way).  Just ordered myself a tube and am eagerly awaiting its arrival.  Stay tuned…

I am loving these colorblocked leggings from Free People ($98, but on sale in select sizes here for $68).  Those pastels!  Amazing.  Would look great with this $65 New Balance for J. Crew long-sleeved top, APL sneaks ($160 — I own this pair in a gray heather), and this BKR water bottle ($35).  And P.S. — I also love this pair of colorblocked leggings.

This colorblocked steal ($89) would be the perfect summer beach tote.  (Also available in a cute clutch format for $54.)

ARG, this striped maxi dress (on sale for $348) from Anthro is haunting my dreams.  SRSLY stunning.  The stripes.  The tassels.  The neutral hues.  The flounce!  EEEEP.

I’m a huge fan of letterpressed stationery — for our wedding, we did both our save the dates and invitations in letterpress (swoon) — and I was smitten with this set of personalized note cards ($90 for 40) from Etsy storefront Dear Lola Letterpress.

I invested in a Mason Pearson hairbrush a few years ago ($150) after reading countless reviews about it being the best brush on the market.  And it is great, although I almost always first use my detangler ($15), and, when I do blow dry my hair (UGHHGHGHG, bane of my existence), I prefer to use my wood paddle brush ($25).  But while we’re talking hairbrushes, when I want bend at the ends of my hair, I do love these inexpensive Spornette round brushes ($13) after reading that Gisele’s hair stylist swears by ’em, and I am literally never without this pocket brush from DryBar ($10) — it is the BEST shape and size and I’ve even been on a few trips where I’ve only packed that little guy!

But, finally, in doing some research on the Harry Josh blow dryer a few of you recommended as a potential solution to my hair woes, I also came across this $36 Harry Josh brush, which got really good reviews, too.

My sister and brother-in-law will be spending their birthdays (they share the same birthday!!) with us in April and I’m already dreaming about a festive little backyard birthday celebration.  I love love love these pretty pastel paper goods from Meri Meri: $7.50 for plates, $7.50 for napkins, and $7.50 for straws.

I know this is pre-emptive, but I have been loving these adorable Mini Kankan backpacks ($60) by Fjallraven for.ev.er.  Like, for years, I have dreamed of sending my little one off to camp or her friend’s house with one of these little guys.  The other day, I went ahead and pulled the trigger with the thought that it may be helpful to have a little satchel to tote her stuff around in when we travel with her or what have you.  I dunno, guys, I’m just ready for her to be here and am pretty much trigger happy when I come across something I want for her.  I debated between the rose pink or this fun lime green and went, unexpectedly, with the latter.  I was realizing I may have oversampled pale pink in her wardrobe and need some fun pops of color to balance things out.  BTW, it also comes in an adult/full size, and is supposed to be a dream to wear.  If we go back to Aspen or anywhere else outdoorsy, I might snag one of these for myself for our hikes!  I like it in the “warm yellow” or “UN blue” colors. the fashion magpie kanken mini daypack fjallraven the fashion magpie kanken mini daypack fjallraven

And, a few other decouvertes:

+A good price for these adorable copper pineapple cocktail mugs.  I need a set.

+OTS striped + embroidered goodness ($61)!!!

+A dead ringer for a DVF wrap dress — but $90!

+Boring, maybe, but I have been so congested lately that I’ve been looking into humidifiers, and this one ($107) has a cool enough design that I wouldn’t hate to have it out.

+Such a fun, girly top (on sale for $151).

+J. Crew with the HITZ right now.  I need this ladylike jacket.  That Liberty floral trim!

+If you’ve been reluctant to hop on the mule trend, J. Crew’s new colorblocked take on the trend may tip you over the edge.

  1. Drunk Elephant’s Glycolic Night Serum is my absolute favorite. A lot of popular serums don’t seem to do anything for me (I’m looking at you, Sunday Riley Good Genes) but Drunk Elephant’s are killer.
