Hologram.

By: Jen Shoop

The past two weekends have been bananas amazing.  I mean, my heart is so full.  First, I turned the big 3-0 at the end of June, and as if it wasn’t enough that Mr. Magpie took me to an insane surprise dinner at El Ideas (such a cool experience — there are only 16 seats, and you are basically sitting inside a kitchen and allowed to bop around, observing and chatting with the cooks and waitstaff.  They bring out course after course of amazing bites, but it’s non-pretentiously BYO, so Mr. Mags and I enjoyed a fancy bottle of champagne followed by a fancy bottle of red.  AND the playlist is so fun — a mix of Jay-Z and other modern hip-hop stars with soul.) and gave me a beautiful diamond station necklace (!!!), we also BOUGHT A HOUSE the same week AND my sister, her boyfriend (adore him so much; he’s like a brother to me at this point), my best friend, and her husband came into town for the weekend for a lovely and debaucherous weekend of celebration that included a three-course cocktail menu (only cocktails!) at the famous Aviary, a Cubs game, a day at the beach, and an amazing late night dance party.  THEN, my other sister and her darling husband came the following weekend for the 4th, and we enjoyed late-night dancing at Kingston Mines, shopping on the Mag Mile, an amazing 4th of July cookout at a friend’s followed by rooftop fireworks-watching, and, to cap it off, the Dave Matthews concert (in VIP section — woah, that experience has ruined my ability to ever go general admission).

I mean, woah.  Life is good.  I’ll have to begin to post more about my plans for our new home (!!!! AHHHHH!!!!), which is a gorgeous brick home initially built in the 1880s that has been entirely re-done in the inside, but for now, I need a post that matches my ecstatic mood, and these Sophia Websters capture it to a tee ($600)
