Feeling Frou Frou

By: Jen Shoop

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I’ve been feeling a little…frou frou: a touch romantic, a pinch indulgent, and always unapologetically feminine.  Ipso facto: lingerie is on the brain.  {Nothing makes me feel more “pulled together” and at the same time lavishly impractical than coordinating undergarments.}

{watercolor by Miss Capricho}

Oh, and P.S.: to the Magpie Men out there: any of the items below would make for a perfect little Valentine’s gift for your leading lady.  And P.P.S. Read to the bottom of this post for an extra little Valentine’s Day treat for my loyal readers!

{gift tag — $18 for set of 10, iomoi}

I’m reaching for a cheery cherry red nightie (Huit, $99, Shop Underwear) and a contrasting yet coordinating shocking pink bralet and boyshort combo (Eberjey, $38 for top, $30 for bottom — Journelle):

Have some happy patent heels handy to add a little pep to your step ($118 for red pair, Vince Camuto; $195 for pink pair, Foot Candy Shoes):

{I’m loving FootCandy’s new house line — lots of of-the-moment, Louboutin-esque styles for far, far less than Mr. Louboutin’s collection.}  And I know I’ve featured these Sondra Roberts petaled clutches in the past, but how perfect are they for Valentine’s Day ($98 apiece, Nordstrom)?!

Or how about some so-fake-they’re-almost-kitschy enorma-studs in sparkling gem-tones ($86 for red, $44 for pink — both Rachel Leigh):

Don’t forget some glossy hot pink (i.e. “Bachelorette Bash”) or cherry red (i.e. “Geranium”) nails (both available for $8 apiece in the Essie Shop):

Throw on a cheerfully-printed shawl (on sale for $136, Virginia Johnson) while primping in your boudoir, which should be accented with uber-girly pillows ($50 apiece, ShopFurbish) and an oversized “LOVE” print ($40, SugarPaper):

…and which should also be the per.fect spot for cozying up to write in your diary / little pink book (suh-woon, wish I could own a Smythson diary — $255, Smythson):

Light the space with some festive-looking striped candles ($18 apiece, FiveStripes) lit by a cute little box of matches ($12, iomoi):

For the glam bombshell, this champagne-hued Stella McCartney romper is beyond ($195,  Journelle):

Goes perfectly with a spritz of J’Adore Dior ($98, Bloomingdale’s), a classic Coty powder puff ($9, Amazon) on the boudoir vanity, and a pair of killer bombshell heels ($159, Heels):

And how vintage perfect is this Eberjey lacey bralet ($46, Shop Underwear) and this delicate heart-accented bracelet in blush rose gold (Jennifer Zeuner, $121, Singer22):

Alternately, how much do you obsess over this pretty-printed nightie by new lingerie designer Blush ($55, ShopUnderwear)?!  I just heard about them and am instantly in love with their affordable, French-style undergarments.

Frost yourself with blingy add-ons, like a  shoulder-grazing sparklers (Janis Savitt, on sale for $210, Farfetch) and this to.die.for set of Alexis Bittar bangles ($225 apiece, Alexis Bittar):

Finally, set the tone just right by lighting Tocca’s “Florence” candle (I live for this scent — $36, Tocca):

And then accent your little vanity area with some vintage-looking home accents, like an old-school letter opener ($52, SugarPaper) and these be.yond. adorable letterpress notecards ($28, SugarPaper):

I like the idea of illuminating the space with this whimsical table lamp ($358, Layla Grace) and storing loose pens and pencils in a vintage-style gold-varnished glass ($8, Furbish):

And of course adding a stack of Penguin Classic’s lovely books alongside:

For those preferring to tone down the unbridled girlishness of the styles above, consider a simple white tee paired with soft undergarments  ($52 for top, $27 for bottom — both in the flamingo color — Cosabella) and preppy-chic boxers ($39, Jack Wills):

Or maybe go all-the-way-preppy with a nautical striped tee (love the cozy drapiness of this style — St. James, $85, Madewell) and some crisp poplin boxers (Bodas, $57 apiece, Barney’s):

Perfect for curling up in your crisp, nautical sheeting ($260 for set, Dwell Studio) and contrasting-striped pillows ($100/pillow, FiveStripes):

Or let Chance do the work for you and try this striped PJ set ($78, Chance):

Love.  I don’t know about you, but I’m in the mood to continue with this frou-frou business…and you can do so by entering to win a special giveaway from amazing stationery line Pretty Printing!  Do you not ob.sess. over these personalized notecards featuring everyone’s favorite shoes?!
