Essentials.

I’ll admit that I’d much prefer to spend money on an impractical hot pink heel or a whimsical blouse or an oversized statement necklace than I would a pair of basic nude flats or a crisp button-down.  The former excite me; the latter make me want to snooze.  I realize this proclivity makes me very un-European and very impractical, but such is the truth.  That being said, every now and then, I catch a glimpse of a chic pea on her way to work wearing smart, sharp basics and I think, “I really need to get on that train.”  If anyone else is all aboard, check out these essentials, which’ll never let you down (prices/links at bottom):
