Easy Living

By: Jen Shoop

This past weekend gave me my first taste of summer, and there’s no turning back now.  I’m all in.  I wore a white sundress, saw the Good Humor truck in my neighborhood, and attended my first Nationals game of the season in stunningly low-humidity 70 degree weather.  This makes me oh-so-excited for throw-and-go summer gear — effortless, airy separates and classics that make the summer breeze on by.  I’m thinking of a linen throw-on dress (CP Shades) with a simple tortoise necklace ($275, Natori):

Perfect with all of your summer essentials tucked into a carry-all, broken-in leather tote ($140, Louise Goods) and some classic t-straps ($110, MustHaves):

I’d add only a few raffia bangles ($20 apiece, Ben-Amun):

Or, how about these easy-on chambray shorts (Elizabeth + James, $245, Net-A-Porter — or get the look for less with this $60 Madewell pair) with a striped Lem Lem top (obsessed with this brand — $200, LemLem — for more colors, see here) and a simple necklace (Marc Jacobs, $130, Ssense)?

Perfect with simple, wear-with-anything pearlized nude flips (Tkees, $48, Shopbop) and this punchy woven tote ($137, Deux Lux):

Perfect with your handy, retro-styled camera ($109, Lomography):

Throw your stuff in the basket of a Brooklyn Cruiser ($549, Brooklyn Cruiser), and you are good to go:

I’m also loving easy-on denim dresses in interesting/low-key shapes, like tunics and shifts.  This Acne style ($300, Net-A-Porter) caught my eye as just the thing to wear with a neon-hinted necklace ($80, Anthropologie):

I’d finish with these eye-catching Rebecca Minkoff sandals ($165, Saks) and a simple brown cross-body (Tory Burch, $475, Bergdorf Goodman):

Finally, I’m oddly drawn to the shape and tie-dye print of this A.P.C. number ($265, Nordstrom), which I’d offset with printed bead necklaces ($80, Glam-Net):

I’d finish with simple white sandals (K. Jacques, $235, Net-A-Porter) and a chic fringed clutch ($440, Jennifer Haley):

Ahhh, summer.
