Bold Statement Dresses for Spring Weddings + Other Special Occasions.

One thing that has struck me across a number of recent wedding guest dress style requests: “please nothing pastel.” I get it! I am loving all of the bold, saturated, happy hues out this season after a long stretch of pastel and ditsy prints! Below, dresses and accessories that are guaranteed to wow and that pack a ton of color, and also — I did want to mention that I found some pieces similar to the Cult Gaia pearl clutch so many of us love at more affordable prices, including this one from Lulu’s and this one from Etsy.

P.S. What are you watching these days? There were some interesting leads the last time I asked. We are watching a mix of “Bridgerton,” “Peaky Blinders,” “Gilded Age,” and “Winning Time.” The first three I’m “smeh” on. The last is really well-done — high production value, quick pace, fast wit, inventive filmography (the footage “feels” old but has a distinctive modern feel).

P.P.S. On valuing presence over productivity.

  1. My partner and I have been “meh” on a lot of recent programming as well, with the exception of “Severance” on HBO. We’ve found it thought provoking and quick, and the set design is superb.

    1. Oo, hadn’t heard of this! I feel sometimes as though I’m out to lunch or not being marketed to properly! Ha!

      xx

  2. Pachinko on Apple TV – I read the book a few years ago and the mini series is fantastic. Beautifully shot, preserves the storytelling impeccably, and the cast is incredible. There are a handful of eps out now, with more being released weekly. Transporting!

  3. It was really challenging to find pastel blouses. We’re doing a family photo shoot in pastel hues.
Shows: offspring, and W1A. Just finished season 2 of Bridgerton and Gilded Age. Pam and Tommy was interesting. Looking forward to more Murders in the Building. I think Dead to Me is coming out with a new season. Not sure when the next Never Have I Ever or Babysitters Club drops. Not a show but I am looking forward to the film Where the Crawdads Sing. The book was so good.

    1. Oo I honestly did not know that Murders in the Building was coming back, nor did I know about Never Have I Ever or Babysitters Club, both of which I watched compulsively! Thanks for sharing. You’re making me excited for spring TV.

Did you end up finding a pastel blouse? Happy to do a search for you!

      xx

    2. I did end up finding a few pieces from Ann Taylor and Loft, an eyelet lavdener blouse, a cream colored rop, and a dew drop square neck blouse. Lol I just need one to work. I plan to pair with either white pants or a khaki skory but am open to suggestions. Now to just add a fun necklace!

      1. Love this! Sounds perfect! I love the color story — lavender is one of my favorite colors at the moment!

        xx

    3. I get so excited every time I see someone else enjoys W1A! If you haven’t seen it, you might also enjoy Utopia, set in an Australian government department. I find it absolutely hilarious.

    4. I’ll definitely check out Utopia. I love all things Australian mostly because my boyfriend is from there. Offspring is set in Melbourne. I also liked the Let-down and Harrow which was nice to see a show where I’ve been to many of the places in the show. Highly recommend going and/or moving down under!!
