A Wintry Mix

By: Jen Shoop

I spent quite a bit of time “talking holiday logistics” with my girlfriends this past weekend, and then received not one — not two — but three invitations to holiday cookie exchanges today.   We are officially headed towards holiday season, and it appears that my December is already gobbled up with delicious, felicitous little activities.  This makes me want to buy a slew of “holiday shimmer” pieces to mix and match — no cocktail dresses (yet), just skirts and blouses and happy, sparkly accents.  The first thing on my lust list?  A silky little blouse in fetching cream-on-blush ($175, Reiss) tucked into this perfect-for-the-holidays tiered skirt by Diane Von Furstenberg ($385, DVF):

Finish with these made-for-the-skirt Kate Spade heels (swoon — these are my aesthetic, to a tee! — on sale for $225, Simply Soles) and a silvery-gray-mineral envelope clutch in textured calf-hair ($198, Jessica Jensen):

Finish with some sparkling enorma-studs ($140, Ben Amun), a coordinating deco bracelet (Badgley Mischka, $285, Charm and Chain), and a classy ivory topper ($595, Rebecca Taylor):

I am equally smitten with this shimmery-sweet metallic-thread dress ($325, Net-A-Porter) with some classic gold pumps ($625, BrownsFashion):

Any gold clutch’d do, but this Barney’s version is pretty much picture perfect with this look ($750, Barney’s) — as are these be.yond gorgeous vintage Christian Dior studs (be still my heart — $534, ASOS):

Love the casual cargo style in the dressy silky fabric, done up with ladylike accents.  Perfect.  Go for a slightly less-dressy look with this t-shirt style dress ($248, French Connection) and a pair of ladylike flats ($99, Simply Soles):

Finish with some sparkling enorma-studs ($410, Net-A-Porter) and a pearl bracelet ($85, Carolee):

Alternately, how about tucking this glittery tee ($325, La Garconne) with a boucle ivory mini ($225, Rebecca Taylor):

Layer on a sparkling necklace ($110, Ben Amun) and finish with some glitzy heels ($200, Nordstrom):

Die over the idea of slipping a capelet on top (Vanessa Bruno, $885, Farfetch):

Alternately, pair the above capelet with some skinnies and a lovely pair of satin flats ($64, Endless):

Finish with some blingy ear candy ($65, Carolee), a gold-accented ring ($129, Zappos), and a coordinating blush over-the-shoulder bag ($395, Lauren Merkin):

(You may also need a little perk-me-up when you take off your statement cape, so consider this gorgeous Marni-esque beaded necklace — $315, Vionnet Boutique:

Don’t you love and adore?!)  Another chic daywear-with-holiday-flair look?  A heathered tee ($55, J. Crew) beneath a mongolian fur vest (on sale for $288, My Wardrobe), with jeans:

Finish with some sparkly flats ($59, PiperLime), a glittery clutch (a.dore this J. Crew style and want it in both colors it comes in, including this sleek graphite — $138, J. Crew) and a bow ring (Juicy Couture, $68, Zappos):

Love.  If you’re a golden gal, consider pairing a neutral, blousey top ($325, La Garconne) with a wrapped-bead necklace in gold ($123, Charm and Chain) and a stack of glittering bangles ($140, Charm and Chain):

Finish with jeans and some glittery heels ($160, Nine West) for a festive look:

Pair with this beaded tweed clutch ($198, J. Crew):

And speaking of tweed — how much do you die over this silky tweed top ($210, The Outnet), paired with skinny jeans and these embellished tweed pumps ($225, Nordstrom)?

Finish with this gorgeous “ice princess” bib necklace ($595, Kate Spade) and a chain handle bag ($225, Henri Bendel):

I don’t know about you, but I’m loving the fashion forecast…
